Following a wildly successful debut run, Hulu released the complete second season of Chad Powers on September 3.
In the show he co-created with Michael Waldron, Powell plays Russ Holliday, a disgraced quarterback who decides to revive his American football career by creating a new persona, Chad Powers, and joining a struggling college football team: the South Georgia Catfish.

Early in Season 1, the Catfish mascot Danny, played by Frankie A. Rodriguez, discovers Chad’s real identity. The two form an unlikely friendship, and Danny goes on to protect Chad’s real identity to the best of his abilities throughout the show – which ultimately doesn’t go so well.

With all six episodes of the new season available to stream, here is what to know about the 27-year-old actor behind the mascot suit in Chad Powers.
What is Frankie A. Rodriguez’s background?

Frankie A. Rodriguez was born in July 1999 in Sanger, California and is of Mexican descent.
His love for the stage was evident during his years at Sanger High School, where he took part in several school productions.
“I completely found my people when I joined theatre,” Rodriguez told Out magazine in a recent interview. “I never had trouble making friends at school, but I always had trouble relating to them. When I did theatre, I found my people. We all just want to sing and dance. It has shaped everything I’ve done in my entire career.”
He worked with Olivia Rodrigo

Rodriguez made his acting debut in 2015 when he landed a recurring role in the comedy web series Raymond & Lane. He also appeared in two episodes of the beloved television sitcom Modern Family in 2019.
But Rodriguez’s Hollywood breakthrough didn’t come until he landed the role of Carlos, a student choreographer, in Disney’s High School Musical: The Musical: The Series. The mockumentary, based on the popular franchise, also starred Olivia Rodrigo.
After that, the actor booked a role in Mindy Kaling’s The Sex Lives of College Girls before joining the Chad Powers cast.
Who is Frankie A. Rodriguez dating?

Rodriguez is openly gay and is engaged to fellow actor Joe Serafini.
The couple met on the set of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, in which they play an on-screen couple – one of the first queer couples in Disney history.
Rodriguez and Serafini reportedly began dating in 2019 and announced their engagement via an Instagram post in August this year.
