Long-time Fox News anchor Maria Bartiromo has been abruptly sacked by the network, with the channel saying her firing was “effective immediately” in a September 3 statement.
“We thank Maria for her work over the last 12 and a half years and wish her all the best on her next chapter,” the statement read.

In response, Bartiromo’s lawyer Bryan Freedman issued a statement on September 4 denying that she had been fired: “The irresponsible reports that have been published stating that Maria Bartiromo was fired or is no longer an employee of Fox are absolutely and unequivocally false.”
“Make no mistake, we have the receipts and witnesses, and they will come out whether through the courthouse or otherwise,” he added.
Bartiromo’s ousting came as a shock to many, including US President Donald Trump, who took to Truth Social to write: “I can’t believe Maria Bartiromo is no longer going to have her great show(s) on FoxNews/Business.”
Bartiromo has long been a vocal supporter of Trump and is considered one of his closest allies in the network. While Fox News did not explain the reasoning behind Bartiromo’s departure, CNN pointed to her close ties with Trump and her alleged “disclosure of confidential information to the Trump White House”.

The Maga leader was even said to have considered Bartiromo for vice-president, according to Politico reporter Alex Isenstadt’s book Revenge: The Inside Story of Trump’s Return to Power, published in 2025. Isenstadt claims Trump was “dead serious” about the then-Fox Business anchor as his running mate at least until the assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania, in July 2024.

“She was great with the big-donor Wall Street types and she knew how to do TV, Trump told his team,” Isenstadt wrote. Ultimately, Trump’s campaign team, led by chief of staff Susie Wiles, decided they had “no time to vet Bartiromo” and picked J.D. Vance instead, according to the book.
Bartiromo, nicknamed “the Money Honey” from her days on the New York Stock Exchange floor as a CNBC reporter, is evidently quite the celebrity in the financial sphere, per Forbes. Over the years, she’s enjoyed dinners with Trump at Mar-a-Lago and defended his positions and policies on air.
But besides her association with Trump, another man in her life who has drawn significant interest is her husband, Jonathan Steinberg. Here is what we know about him.
What is Jonathan Steinberg’s background?

Jonathan Steinberg is the son of late magnate Saul Steinberg and his high school sweetheart, Barbara Herzog. Per New York Magazine, Steinberg Sr was a Wharton School graduate who launched the company Leasco Data Processing Equipment in his twenties and took over Reliance Insurance in 1968.
He also attempted to bring Disney and Chemical Bank into his fold but failed. While Jonathan attended Wharton like his father, he had difficulty with reading and did not graduate, per The New York Times.
What is Jonathan Steinberg’s net worth?

Jonathan Steinberg is the founder and CEO of WisdomTree, a global financial company offering exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and other investment products. The company was founded in 1988, before which Steinberg worked for the now-defunct investment firm Bear Stearns.
In 2015, he won EY’s Entrepreneur of the Year New York award. As of Monday, Steinberg’s net worth is estimated at US$230 million, per GuruFocus.
How did Maria Bartiromo and Jonathan Steinberg meet?

Steinberg and Bartiromo met in 1990, when she had just completed journalism and economics studies at New York University, per The New York Times. The pair tied the knot in 1999 in Quogue, New York.
They have no children. According to Success, the couple lives in a five-floor Manhattan town house, and per the Los Angeles Times, they also own a beach house in Westhampton, New York.
