It has been more than a month since Taylor Sheridan’s spy drama Lioness debuted its third season on Paramount+ on August 2. Inspired by a real-life unit of undercover female agents fighting terrorist organisations, the show boasts an A-list cast led by Zoe Saldaña, Nicole Kidman and Morgan Freeman.

The Oscar-nominated writer who created Yellowstone is renowned for working with a recurring ensemble across his projects – a phenomenon dubbed the “Sheridanverse” by fans. Many viewers were already familiar with LaMonica Garrett, who plays Quick Reaction Force operative Tucker in Lioness, long before the show premiered in 2023.
So, who is the 51-year-old actor, and which other Sheridanverse titles feature his work?
What is LaMonica Garrett’s background?

Born in San Francisco in May 1975, LaMonica Garrett was named after former Oakland Raiders quarterback Daryle Lamonica – a nod to his parents’ favourite player, according to his 2017 interview with Muscle & Fitness.
Garrett grew up with ambitions of playing American football, inspired by his father, who played semi-professionally in Chicago. When he failed to sign with the NFL, he pivoted to acting – a field in which he had always held a keen interest, he told the fitness magazine.
How did LaMonica Garrett break into acting?

Per Muscle & Fitness, Garrett worked as a FedEx driver to support himself and pay for acting classes. In the meantime, he also started playing SlamBall – a basketball hybrid game involving trampolines. As fate would have it, the teen drama series One Tree Hill was filming a storyline involving SlamBall, so Garrett landed an audition and appeared in one episode.
After that, the actor appeared in shows such as NCIS, Suits, and Designated Survivor. Garrett made his Sheridanverse debut as Thomas in Yellowstone’s prequel 1883 in 2021. In 2023, he returned as Tucker in Lioness.
In an interview with TV Insider in August, Garrett expressed his interest in being in Sheridan’s gritty Texas oil rig show, Landman, starring Billy Bob Thornton and Demi Moore.

“It’s active, and I consider myself an action guy, so put me on Landman out there with the sun on my back and a big wrench, and have me fix one of these wells or whatever’s going on,” Garrett said. “That would be something that I can get down with.”
Who is LaMonica Garrett married to?

Garrett has been married to property agent Mina Ivanova since 2017. The couple welcomed their first child together, a son, in 2019. Ivanova also appears to have an older daughter from a previous relationship, according to her Instagram posts.
