Kyle Chandler stars as Hal Jordan, a veteran crime-fighting Green Lantern, in HBO’s latest superhero series Lanterns.
Based on the DC comic Green Lantern, the series builds on director James Gunn’s growing DC Universe and follows Chandler’s character who is paired with Green Lantern newbie John Stewart (played by Aaron Pierre), to solve a series of crimes.
The eight-part series premiered on August 16 and has already built buzz about a possible second season despite only two episodes being released so far.
Chandler, an Emmy Award-winning actor whose Hollywood career spans nearly four decades, arrived at the show’s Los Angeles premiere on August 13 with his wife, Kathryn Chandler.
The pair have been married since 1995, and Chandler has previously credited Kathryn for keeping him grounded despite his fame.
“She knows who I really am and still appreciates me,” Kyle told Men’s Health magazine during a 2010 interview. “My wife knows I’m a complete idiot, and she reminds me every day that success is meaningless if I’m pretending to be someone I’m not.”
