Meet Madison Bailey, who plays Kiara in Outer Banks – now in its final season
The actress started out as a teen model before landing her breakout role in the Netflix series starring Madelyn Cline, Jonathan Daviss and Chase Stokes
The 27-year-old actress has also recently appeared in an advertisement campaign for American speciality footwear retailer Journeys, starring in their back-to-school video alongside Anna Cathcart.
But how exactly did Madison Bailey get into acting, and did you know she was adopted by her parents as a baby?
How was Madison Bailey cast in Outer Banks?
Before Bailey became an actress, she was a teen model and had signed with a modelling agency at 14, according to her interview with Vogue Australia in 2020. She landed her first on-screen role in the television thriller series Constantine in 2015. “Shortly after that, I began home-schooling to pursue acting full time,” she said in the same interview.
As for the breakout hit Outer Banks, Bailey revealed that she had to audition on tape twice before she booked the role. After her second try, the actress was invited for a reading, both individually and with other cast members, including Cline, with whom she became friends. Bailey told Vogue Australia that she “genuinely couldn’t believe it” when she landed the role just a couple of minutes after the reading, and that she went on to call her father right away.
What is Madison Bailey’s background?
Adopted by her parents as a baby, Bailey is the youngest of seven – she has three older sisters and three older brothers. “My oldest [sibling] is my parents’ biological child, and then they adopted six more children. So we’re a miscellaneous group of kids. We’re all so different,” the actress told Only Natural Diamonds magazine.
Bailey’s mother sadly passed away in 2018, when the actress was 19. Following the tragic event, Bailey posted a heartfelt tribute on her Instagram page, calling her mother “the most loving, the most caring, the most honest and kind”.
