Season 3 of Oscar-nominated screenwriter Taylor Sheridan’s espionage thriller, Lioness, premiered on Paramount+ on August 2. In the first week of streaming, the show hit 7.1 million views, outperforming the second season’s premiere.
Lioness, starring Hollywood stars Zoe Saldaña, Nicole Kidman and Morgan Freeman, follows an undercover programme that enlists female operatives to carry out dangerous missions. Jill Wagner, also an executive producer on the show, plays Bobby, a CIA special activities division operative team leader.

The 47-year-old star helped create Sheridan’s project, pitching the concept of undercover female operatives and their dangerous realities. “We came up with the idea in my backyard in Tennessee,” Wagner told Woman’s World last month. “Taylor has created this version of them that you see, but these women exist … and they do these jobs, and we’re telling their story.”
So, what do we know about Jill Wagner, who has personal connections to the show’s military themes? Read on to find out.
What is Jill Wagner’s background?

Jill Suzanne Wagner, more commonly known as Jill Wagner, was born on January 13, 1979, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Her mother died when she was young, and she was primarily raised by her grandmother and her father, who is a former US Marine. Wagner earned her bachelor’s degree from North Carolina State University and graduated in 2001.
What roles has Jill Wagner played?

Wagner is an alumna of the Barbizon Modeling and Acting School, and she started her career as a cast member of MTV series Punk’d in 2003. Since then, Wagner has worked on several television films for Hallmark Channel, as well as appearing on Bones, Teen Wolf, and Imperfect Women.
Wagner and Sheridan have worked together long before Lioness. Sheridan was Wagner’s acting coach in her twenties, and he specifically wrote the part of Bobby for the actress, saying it would challenge her, per Numero magazine.
Who is Jill Wagner married to?

Wagner married Canadian ice hockey player David Lemanowicz in 2017. The pair have known each other since she was a teenager. “I snuck out of my dad’s window at home and went out at night, which I wasn’t supposed to,” Wagner said on lifestyle talk show Home & Family in 2016. “[I] fell completely head over heels. We went out three times, and then I never heard from him again.”
Wagner was 17 at the time, while Lemanowicz was 20. The pair reconnected 17 years later in 2015, when Lemanowicz was serving in the Air Force and deployed in Afghanistan, where Wagner attended a morale event for the troops. They were both in relationships at the time, but ran into each other yet again a year later in Los Angeles.
Lemanowicz’s parents immigrated from Poland to Vancouver. He studied at the University of Toronto, where he earned his degree in international relations. Before serving in the Air Force, Lemanowicz played minor-league ice hockey. He was promoted to US Army Major in 2020. He is also an executive producer on Lioness.
Wagner and her husband welcomed two daughters, Army Gray in 2020 and Daisy Roberta in 2021. Lemanowicz also has a daughter from his previous marriage named Lija. The family now lives in Tennessee, where the couple raises their children on a farm.
