Meet Olympic figure skating champion Alysa Liu’s transgender sibling Jaylin

The younger sibling of the US figure skating prodigy is also good at sports, loves going to concerts and has met Laufey backstage
Liu’s unique background has not gone unnoticed, with much attention drawn to the story of her being the surrogate child of a single immigrant father. She is the eldest of five children, and one of her siblings – Jaylin Liu – has been making headlines recently, with reports about her transgender identity and participation in women’s sports.
But who exactly is Jaylin Liu? Here is what we know.
Jaylin Liu is transgender

Jaylin Liu, born Joshua Liu, identifies as transgender and uses “she/her” pronouns. Although it is not clear when she made the transition, Jaylin is not afraid to express her identity on social media, experimenting with different styles, make-up and hair colours. She also attended the San Francisco Pride Parade in June.
What sports does Jaylin Liu play?

Jaylin is around 16 years old and has just completed her second year at El Cerrito High School in California. The teen is highly active in different sports, competing on the girls’ track and field teams at both Albany High School and El Cerrito. Jaylin also plays basketball and ultimate frisbee. Since joining the women’s teams last year, Jaylin has been dominating the field.
