Move over, Nate – The Devil Wears Prada’s Andy Sachs has a new love interest.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 is already raking in some serious box office numbers, grossing US$233 million worldwide in its opening weekend. The highly anticipated sequel sees Sachs (Anne Hathaway) reuniting with her former boss, Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep), rival Emily Charlton (Emily Blunt), and Priestly’s loyal right-hand man Nigel Kipling (Stanley Tucci), 20 years after the events of the first film.
Fans of the original film may remember that Andy and her then-boyfriend Nate (played by Adrian Grenier) had a rocky relationship, not helped by her stressful job as an assistant to the demanding Priestly. Grenier did not return for the sequel and spoiler alert: Andy, in true romcom fashion, finds a new love interest in luxury developer Peter, played by Australian actor Patrick Brammall.

Patrick Brammall is best known for a hit Aussie TV series

Brammall has been in the industry for some time now. He started his career with the TV movie The Alice in 2004, followed by its spin-off series. Later, he gained widespread recognition for his roles in various Australian TV series and films, including playing Gordon in the comedy series Colin From Accounts, Sergeant James Hayes in Glitch, Leo Taylor in Offspring, and Andy Bouchard in the American supernatural drama series, Evil. He will also star in the upcoming Apple TV series, The Dispatcher.
He almost turned down the role of Peter

In an interview with The Sydney Morning Herald, Brammall explained that he didn’t think he would get the role in such a major blockbuster film – and almost didn’t even audition for it.
“It wasn’t self-doubt so much, it was pragmatics,” he explained. “When they asked me to audition – I’m 50, I’ve been around the block, I’ve been working as an actor for many, many years, and I’ve put down a lot of auditions for a lot of big things going, ‘Oh, this could be it.’
“And so when that came through, I was like, ‘That’s really nice that they’re considering me,’ but I genuinely didn’t have time,” Brammall concluded, adding that he was busy with another project and raising his two kids. “I was just like, ‘At the end of the day, they’re not gonna call me back about this, so no thanks.’ History had told me that 99 per cent of things that you go for as an actor, you don’t get.”
He bonded with Anne Hathaway over ping-pong

Brammall praised his co-star at the Sydney premiere of The Devil Wears Prada 2, telling The Sydney Morning Herald that it was “a dream” working with Hathaway, and that the two broke the ice by playing a game of ping-pong.
“It was day one, and we were sitting in this green room in the middle of this building in Brooklyn, and I don’t know where the hell I was,” he recounted. “I’d only met Annie the day before, and we’re basically strangers. There’s a giant ping-pong table there and she wanted a game, and I genuinely didn’t think she was serious.
“We just started playing and I was like, ‘Well, this is weirdly the perfect way to enter into this relationship together, because that’s what a scene is,’” he said. “And I found how great she was as a scene partner.”
He’s also a producer and writer

Brammall is also a producer and writer, having worked on the series No Activity for CBS. In 2013, when Brammall reprised the role of Sean Moody for the eight-part series The Moodys, he wrote episode five and was consequently nominated for a Comedy (Situation or Narrative) Award by the Australian Writers’ Guild.
He also co-created, co-wrote and co-starred in the 2022 comedy series Colin From Accounts with his wife, Harriet Dyer. The show tells the love story between a medical student and a microbrewery owner. It won the AACTA Award for Best Narrative Comedy Series in 2024. Brammall was also nominated for an AACTA in 2025 for Best Actor in a Comedy for his role in the series.
He has been married twice

Brammall and Dyer met while filming No Activity in 2015, and later confirmed their relationship in August 2017, notes Who magazine. Four years later, Brammall married Dyer – who is 12 years younger than him – in a small, intimate beach ceremony. That same year, they adopted their first child, Joni Jane Brooklyn Brammall. In February 2025, they welcomed their second child, Mabel, per Now to Love.
Previously, Brammall was married to Samantha Nield.
He was born with a rare genetic disorder

Brammall was born with prune belly syndrome, a rare condition that affects the development of abdominal muscles and the urinary system. During the first decade of his life, he underwent numerous surgeries and hospitalisations.
“I wasn’t expected to live much beyond a few months and had my first surgery at two weeks old,” he told The Sydney Morning Herald. “When you’re a child, you just sort of accept what’s happening, as you don’t have anything to compare it to. It was my parents who had the harder job, watching their little one suffer.”
