The 98th Academy Awards will take place on March 16 this year, honouring the film industry’s finest stars and films from the past 12 months. As we wait for the event, Hollywood has announced the award nominees.

Ryan Coogler’s Michael B. Jordan-led vampire horror film Sinners leads the way with a record 16 nominations. One Battle After Another comes a close second with 13 nominations, followed by Marty Supreme, Frankenstein, Sentimental Value and Hamnet.

Timothée Chalamet, 30 – who’s competing alongside the likes of Jordan and Leonardo DiCaprio for best actor – made history by becoming the youngest male actor to receive three Academy Award nominations, according to Variety.

American actress Tatum O’Neal was only 10 years old when she won an Academy Award in 1974 for her supporting role as Addie Loggins in Paper Moon co-starring her father, Ryan O’Neal. The actress, now 62, has gone on to make appearances in TV shows like Sex and the City, Law & Order: Criminal Intent and Wicked Wicked Games. She continues to hold the title for the youngest person to win an Oscar award.

In 1994, New Zealand actress Anna Paquin became the second-youngest person to win an Oscar at 11, when she won the Academy Award for best supporting actress for the historical romance film The Piano.
