While The Mask star’s appearance sparked cosmetic surgery rumours, it was also the first time he publicly gave his partner a shout-out

The 51st César Awards were held on February 26 in Paris, celebrating the best of French cinema from the past year. The honorary César was awarded to Jim Carrey, who delivered an emotional speech in French.

Carrey’s presence also sparked controversy when conspiracy theorists online claimed that The Mask actor had been replaced by a clone or that an impersonator had attended the prestigious ceremony in his stead – all because of his seemingly altered appearance. The rumours gathered steam when drag artist Alexis Stone supposedly claimed on Instagram that he had been impersonating the star in the French capital. Many also opined that Carrey may have undergone cosmetic surgery.

However, the general delegate of the César Awards, Gregory Caulier, has spoken up, assuring fans that the real Jim Carrey had attended the show, also known as the French Oscars, marking “a historic moment”, reported Variety.

A spokesman for the star also confirmed the same, per People. The 64-year-old actor was accompanied by his friends and family, including his 38-year-old daughter Jane and her teen son, Jackson. Carrey’s partner, Min Ah, was also present.

Not much information is publicly available about Min Ah. However, she is said to be an actress and an artist from Los Angeles also known as Minzi, per People. Her low profile online comes as no surprise, given that her beau is also notoriously private. The César Awards were his first public appearance since inducting Soundgarden into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in November last year.
