Bill Lawrence, Jason Segel and Brett Goldstein’s highly acclaimed Apple TV series Shrinking is on a roll. The comedy drama starring Segel alongside Harrison Ford, Jessica Williams, Christa Miller and more, follows Jimmy Laird (Segel), a therapist at the Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Centre who starts getting a little too involved in his patients’ lives after losing his wife. The show, which is currently on its third season, has received several Emmy nominations and is the most-watched TV show on Apple TV+ at the time of writing.


Notably, episodes two and three of season three were directed by Zach Braff, marking the actor’s reunion with his Scrubs co-star Miller ahead of the medical show’s revival. “Zach is one of my favourite directors,” Miller, who plays Liz in Shrinking, told Yahoo! Canada. “Zach doesn’t have an ego, so he’s like, try this, if it doesn’t work … your way’s better. Bill [Lawrence] is also like that.”

What’s her background?

Christa Beatrice Miller was born on May 28, 1964, to Bonnie Trompter, a model, and Chuck Miller in New York. Actress Susan Saint James is her aunt.
She attended all-girls school Convent of the Sacred Heart, but enjoyed playing American football with her male peers. “I can throw a mean spiral and hold my own in a boy’s football game!” she revealed in an interview with the Television Academy.
The Head of the Class star’s hobbies include rock tumbling – which is something she has in common with her Shrinking character – and hiking, per The Hollywood Reporter, as well as surfing.
She’s multitalented

Miller is a model-turned-actress. Per her IMDB biography, she started modelling at a young age, following in her mother’s footsteps, and booked her first commercial at 16. Her parents supposedly weren’t keen on her going into acting, but she developed a passion for it early in life. One of her first TV roles was in her aunt’s show Kate & Allie.
Today, the 61-year-old is best known for works like Cougar Town and The Andromeda Strain. She is also a music supervisor, working in this capacity on Shrinking, Ted Lasso, Scrubs, Cougar Town and Bad Monkey – the latter of which stars her daughter Charlotte Lawrence.
Her relationship with Bill Lawrence

Miller and Bill Lawrence have been married since 1999 and they share three children, Henry, Charlotte and William. They have also been collaborating professionally for years. The shows Scrubs, Cougar Town and Shrinking were created by Lawrence.
Speaking to People, Miller revealed that the secret to their successful marriage is that they “make each other laugh” and the producer called her “the funniest chick on the planet”.
