In an interview with TV Line, the celebrated actor described his character as someone who is “living his life just full of regret”. He has a complicated relationship with his son, Tommy, and loses his wife as the new season starts. “I spent a good part of my time in tears this entire season,” he told Variety.
In real life, Sam is a family man. Earlier this month, his wife Katharine Ross and their daughter Cleo Rose Elliott stepped out to support him at the Landman season two advance screening in Fort Worth, Texas.

She lives in Malibu
According to The Malibu Times, Cleo hails from Malibu and attended Malibu High and Colin McEwen High School. Speaking with Variety recently, Sam revealed that he still lives in Malibu with his wife and daughter. “I’m in the elements, and that’s the life that I chose, that Katharine and I and Cleo, all three of us, embrace,” he said.
