The Juilliard graduate starred in The Marvelous Mrs Maisel and Rob Peace before Tulsa King – but just what has Stallone said about him?

The third season of Taylor Sheridan’s hit crime series Tulsa King, led by Sylvester Stallone, is heading into its final week – and the stakes are higher than ever. The show, which follows Stallone’s character Dwight Manfredi, a New York mafia capo who builds a criminal empire in Tulsa, Oklahoma, has captivated viewers. It is currently the second most-watched TV show on Paramount+. Fans are already looking forward to the show returning for a fourth season, which it was renewed for in September.

While Tulsa King is undoubtedly a Stallone vehicle, actor Jay Will, known for The Marvelous Mrs Maisel and Rob Peace, has emerged as its breakout star. The 27-year-old plays Manfredi’s chauffeur, Tyson Mitchell, who develops a father-son-like bond with the mobster.

Will graduated from New York’s Juilliard School, but revealed in an interview with SiriusXM that his first application to the prestigious performing arts conservatory was late because he was distracted by his relationship with his high school sweetheart. The South Carolina native called the missed deadline his “first heartbreak”. He had to spend a year at another institute before he could apply to Juilliard again.

Will recalled in an interview with The New York Times that he studied Stallone’s acting before showing up to audition for him. “I get in the audition and I’m face to face with him, and it was so much more relaxed than I thought,” he recalled. As soon as his audition was complete, Will got the job.
