Fame and celebrity

  • Joey King got her big break at age 9 opposite Selena Gomez in Ramona and Beezus – now the Golden Globe and Emmy-nominated actress is regarded as one of Hollywood’s rising stars
  • She’s besties with Taylor Swift, who cast King in her music videos ‘Mean’ and ‘I Can See You’, and even pulled her onstage with Taylor Lautner during her Eras Tour

Everything seems to be coming up roses for actress Joey King. Not only is her career going from strength to strength, but she also just enjoyed a fairy tale Spanish wedding to director Steven Piet surrounded by family and friends.

And what an impressive group of family and friends it was, too. Entering showbiz from an early age, it’s no surprise that King has a raft of celebrity pals – even her two older sisters have impressive acting chops.

Here’s why the 24-year-old Bullet Train star is having the time of her life right now, and why things look set to get even better …

Joey King was born in LA on July 30, 1999 and got her first acting gig aged 4 doing an advert for Life Cereal, as per her IMDB page. She wasn’t the first in her family to get into acting either. King has two older sisters, Kelli and Hunter, who are actors too. Kelli has starred in shows such as Grey’s Anatomy and Rude Awakening, while Hunter has been in Dexter and The Young and the Restless.

But it looks like the youngest sister will be the one to really hit the big time. After getting her career break alongside Selena Gomez in 2010’s Ramona and Beezus, she scored a “small but important part in The Dark Knight Rises”, per Rotten Tomatoes, then played the female lead in Netflix’s The Kissing Booth alongside Jacob Elordi.

However, it wasn’t until she shaved her head to play Gypsy Rose Blanchard in gripping crime drama The Act that critics began to notice her talent too. As a result, she was nominated for an Emmy, a Golden Globe, a Screen Actors Guild and a Critics’ Choice award for the Hulu series.

Tay Tay fans will already be familiar with King thanks to the music videos for Swift’s songs “Mean” and “I Can See You”, both of which King starred in. King was only a child when they first met on the set of the “Mean” MV in 2010, but the two have since become firm friends.
