K-pop bands Seventeen and BLACKPINK will perform at the annual Summer Sonic music festival in Tokyo and Osaka in August.
The 13-piece boy band Seventeen will appear at Osaka's Maishima Sonic Park on August 17, the second day of the three-day festival, according to the festival’s official website.
The Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Chainsmokers and The 1975 are among the acts from around the world which will appear on the bill.
BLACKPINK will appear in Tokyo on the last day of the festival. BIGBANG, BoA, Girls' Generation and BTS are among the other Korean artists who have performed at the festival in the past.
Seventeen and BLACKPINK are enormously popular in Japan, with Seventeen selling more than 120,000 copies of their Japanese debut album in the first week of its release in May last year. Seventeen also received two prizes at the 33rd Japan Gold Disc Awards this week.
