It’s finally happening: K-drama’s favourite couple, Son Ye-Jin and Hyun Bin, announced on February 10 that they are getting married next month after two years of dating!
The couple has been rumoured to be in a relationship since March 2020 and confirmed the speculations in January 2021. Since they co-starred in the hit drama Crash Landing on You, many people are excited to see their favourite stars finally tie the knot.
Here’s everything we know about the upcoming nuptials and their relationship …
The announcement

The couple made the big announcement via their Instagram channels. With a picture of a mini wedding dress, Son wrote on her personal account: “I thought long and hard about how to share this story because it’s an important one. I found someone to spend the rest of my life with. Yes … it’s him.”

As for the groom-to-be, Hyun Bin uploaded a handwritten letter on his agency Vast Entertainment’s official account. Per Soompi, he wrote, “I have made the important decision of marriage and am cautiously taking steps toward the second stage of my life. I have made this promise with the woman who always makes me laugh.”
According to Son’s management team, MS Team Entertainment, the wedding is to be held in private with only their families and close friends, especially because of the pandemic.
Is Hyun Bin Son Ye-jin’s first love?

Returning to screen with JTBC drama Thirty Nine next Wednesday, February 16, Son also recently appeared on an episode of the talk show You Quiz on the Block, which will air next week. A preview offered a sneak peak where Son was asked about her first love, in which she answered: “the love right now is the first love”.
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen the lovebirds being affectionate with each other in public. Hyun Bin also thanked Son, calling her his best partner, when he received his grand prize at the APAN Star Awards in January 2021.

In past interviews, both Hyun Bin and Son have mentioned that they hoped their future partners would be understanding. According to Koreaboo, Hyun Bin once said that he likes “a woman who is very understanding. Because of the field I am working in, it’s hard to find someone who can be truly understanding of everything.”
As for Son, she described her ideal partner as a man taller than 175cm who can encourage her and understand her when it comes to her profession, as reported by The Daily Sports.
It seems that they have found the right person, as their ideal types resemble one another.

Power real estate couple

Having spent many long years building acting careers, Son and Hyun Bin have certainly accumulated their wealth, too. According to the show Secret Newsroom in November 2021, one panellist even commented, “if we combine only one building each from Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin, it will already be worth 26 billion won (US$21.7 million)”. They must definitely be one of the richest celebrity couples in the industry.
In fact, when Hyun Bin bought a US$4.3 million penthouse in the Walkerhill Podoville housing estate in December 2020, it sparked rumours that it will be the couple’s new marital home.
They bonded over golf

“BinJin” have the hobby of golfing in common. When Korean media outlet Dispatch reported on their relationship on January 1, 2021, it stated that the couple go golfing together whenever they have free time, with Hyun Bin also teaching Son how to play.
As Son’s character in the upcoming drama Thirty Nine is a dermatologist obsessed with golfing, Hyun Bin’s golf lessons must have definitely helped there, too.

Their past interviews on getting married

The couple’s recent big news reminds us of their past interviews on getting married. In a 2017 interview with Sports Seoul, Hyun Bin said: “I want to build a happy family and become a good father. I think there is a timing in getting married. I hope I don’t do it too late.”
As for Son, she shared to Dalian Media that she believes in fate. And she worked together with Hyun Bin twice, first in the 2018 film The Negotiation and then in the 2019 drama series Crash Landing on You. Maybe their encounters felt magical to Son, as she also wrote in her marriage announcement post: “It happened so naturally … But, isn’t that destiny?”
