Meet the multimillionaire Singaporean couple who paid US$2 million for a lavish dinner – while helping Nigeria’s ‘witch children’

Proceeds from the ‘world’s most exclusive dinner’ – curated by Karan Tilani, director of World of Diamonds Group – went to a worthy cause in Nigeria
Editor's note, November 25, 2024: Court records made public this month included details of the Jane Seymour diamond ring, which was the centrepiece of the below US$2 million luxury dining event Style reported on in 2020. The documents noted that the stone was in fact not a rare natural gem, but synthetic and bought by Tilani for US$19,136. They further note he had asserted the ring was worth around S$13.8 million (US$10.3 million) and that he had made false claims about its value to defraud an investor in his company, Fantastic Xperience.
Influential people who are wealthy and have a heart are seeing opportunities to mix luxury with altruistic acts to help the underprivileged in society. One such head-turner is Singapore-based Karan Tilani, who is the director of World of Diamonds Group and heads its philanthropic branch.
