STYLE Edit: How the Hermès Christmas gift guide will satisfy the most eccentric indulgences
Festive season dossier features statement scarves, an iconic fragrance, showstopping tableware and collectors’ items
Hermès is bringing customers the “Hermès dream” this Christmas, with a gift guide that satisfies the most eccentric indulgences. The Hermès Christmas dossier for 2019 includes statement scarves for winter, an iconic fragrance, showstopping tableware for a stylish home upgrade, and guaranteed collectors’ items.
Where would Hermès be without its most popular product – covetable scarves? For the Christmas Dossier, we see the graphic “High Flyer” scarf in cashmere and silk, designed by Dmitri Rybaltchenko. Another wash scarf design, “Pégase Paysage” by Christian Renonciat, gives us the profile of a horse in a vibrantly coloured hand-sewn silk twill.
Prints by Italian artist Gianpaolo Pagni can be seen in tableware and accessories like the “Hippomobile Allumettes” rectangular tray in porcelain or the cap in glazed calfskin featuring a printed silk twill.
The dragon design, a seasonal signature by the house, is offered sprawling all over the Cityback Chimères Dragon backpack in tufted Togo calfskin.
Hermès also showcases the Twilly Eau Poivrée eau de parfum in its Christmas Dossier for daring women. The spicy, woody fragrance, referred to as the “peppery spirit of the Hermès girls”, was launched in 2017. It features vibrant pink peppercorn and notes of rose and patchouli.
But few dream gifts are dreamier than the newest Birkin bag by Hermès. This piece is sure to become a collector’s item, especially in its rare, petite 20cm size category. The special-edition Birkin Sellier Faubourg is designed with Hermès store’s facade on 24 rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, its home since 1880.
The handcrafted details are charming and high quality, with Swift calfskin orange awnings over Epsom calfskin window panes, Sombrero calfskin line details, a matt crocodile flap and Madame calfskin body.
The Hermès orange clochette, too, has been given its fair share of focus; modelled on the Hermès paper bag, the clochette is complete with miniature handles.
