It’s April and the cherry blossom trees are blooming in Japan - and also in Hong Kong. 
Despite the changing weather, many cherry blossoms in Hong Kong still look magnificent. You don't have to travel all the way to Japan to see these flowers. We’ve rounded up six places to see enchanting sakura in the city.


 
Hong Kong Velodrome Park 

Species: Taiwan cherry and Japanese flowering cherry 
The Velodrome park holds 11 cherry blossom trees, nine of which are the peach-coloured Taiwan cherry. They usually bloom from late February until April. 
How to get there: Hang Hau MTR station, exit B, or Tseung Kwan O MTR station exit A

Tai Po Waterfront Park 
Species: Taiwan cherry 
The 22-hectare (54-acre) site, the largest park managed by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, features a spiral lookout tower and a few cherry blossoms. 
How to get there: Tai Po Market MTR station, exit A1 and take bus K17 
 
CUHK New Asia College, Chih Hsing Hall 


Species: Japanese flowering cherry and Taiwan cherry 
Twenty light pink Japanese flowering cherry trees  have been planted outside Chih Hsing Hall at New Asia College since 2012, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of  Chinese University’s   department of Japanese studies. There are also a few darker pink Taiwan cherry trees near the school bus stop at United College. 
How to get there: University MTR station, exit A

Tai Mo Shan Country Park, Rotary Park Campsite 


Species: Taiwan cherry 
There are several Taiwan cherry trees near the entrance of Tai Mo Shan Country Park. When you walk along the Rotary Park Nature Trail, you will see them. 
How to get there: Tsuen Wan West MTR station, exit E2 and take bus 51 
 
Cheung Chau Kwan Kung Pavilion 


Species: Taiwan cherry 
The idyllic island of Cheung Chau has a few cherry trees  in Kwan Kung Pavilion. 
How to get there: Hong Kong MTR station, exit E1 and catch a ferry from Central Pier 5

Kadoorie Farm  and Botanic Garden 


Species: Taiwan cherry 
Cherry blossoms in Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden mainly belong to the Taiwan cherry species, which is different from those in Japan. 
How to get there: Tai Po Market MTR station, exit A1 or Kam Sheung Road MTR station, exit C and take bus 64K
