Hosted at AP House Macau – the largest AP House in Greater China – the new masterclass transforms the intricate mechanics of haute horlogerie into an intimate, hands-on encounter. Created for seasoned collectors and curious newcomers alike, the programme brings the manufacture’s tradition of passing knowledge between generations from Le Brassus to one of Asia’s most dynamic luxury destinations.
The experience begins with a quietly ceremonial gesture: slipping into a traditional watchmaker’s coat. Participants then enter a dedicated setting conceived to evoke the calm, concentrated atmosphere of Audemars Piguet’s ateliers in Switzerland’s Vallée de Joux.
Under expert guidance, participants assemble the elements that generate, transmit, distribute and regulate energy: the barrel, gear train, escapement and balance wheel. The exercise reveals a world in which fractions of a millimetre matter, and where reliability depends upon exceptional precision.
The second chapter turns from mechanics to artistry. Guests practise traditional decorative techniques, including satin brushing, circular graining and polishing. These meticulous gestures demand patience, control and sensitivity – qualities that distinguish fine watchmaking from industrial production. Each participant also creates a personalised horological keepsake.
