At Richard Mille, material innovation and design are treated as equal partners. With the RM 07-01 Coloured Ceramics range, that relationship is explored through colour, texture and the added complexity of gem-setting – resulting in a collection that feels contemporary while remaining technically grounded.

Conceived as the final chapter of a creative exploration that began in 2021, the 2026 edition refines and distils the idea of colour within high watchmaking. Limited to just 50 pieces per variation, the collection does not seek to overwhelm, but rather to articulate a layered and highly controlled aesthetic – one that reveals itself gradually upon closer inspection.

The dials are central to this expression. Built with remarkable depth, they bring together coloured ceramic elements, laser-cut rubber appliqués, and diamond-set details arranged over a grey PVD-treated red gold base. The composition feels architectural yet fluid, with each material contributing its own texture and visual rhythm. Subtle references to the graphic energy of the 1980s emerge, though they are carefully moderated through proportion and finish.
“These watches play on the juxtaposition of vibrant colours and contrasting textures, asserting a singular and disruptive graphic identity,” says Cécile Guenat, creative and development director at Richard Mille.

Integral to this surface complexity is the use of guillochage, executed on a manual rose engine. The finely engraved patterns introduce a shifting play of light, reinforcing the maison’s continued commitment to traditional decorative techniques, even within its most contemporary designs.

Composed of finely traced, striated curves, the pattern requires exceptional control: the guillocheur must apply constant, millimetric pressure to ensure an even removal of material across each gold surface, line by line. As Guenat notes, “This secular decorative technique reaffirms our commitment to making no compromises on either aesthetic or technical grounds.”

This precision continues in the gem-setting of the bezels achieved using mitraillage, a particularly demanding process given the hardness of the ceramic base. The aesthetic calls for absolute accuracy, where each stone is individually secured by hand using gold prongs. The result is a disciplined composition that highlights the maison’s technical savoir-faire while maintaining visual restraint.
Beneath this lies the in-house CRMA2 calibre, a skeletonised automatic movement in grade 5 titanium. Its openworked construction reveals a carefully considered interplay of structure and lightness, while a 50-hour power reserve and variable-geometry rotor ensure function remains as important as form.
The three ceramic hues – blush pink, lavender pink and powder blue – are realised in TZP ceramic, selected not only for its chromatic clarity but also for its durability and stability. Each bezel is further elevated through intricate gem-setting, where diamonds are paired with coloured stones in compositions that feel both precise and restrained, enhancing light without overwhelming the form.

Satin-finished pillars introduce an additional layer of contrast against the polished white gold casebands. Here, gemstone combinations are used to distinct effect across the different references. The RM 07-01 Blush Pink pairs diamonds with yellow and blue sapphires for a soft yet vibrant rhythm. The RM 07-01 Powder Blue combines diamonds with pink sapphires and tsavorites, for a cooler, more graphic tension. The RM 07-01 Lavender Pink introduces a more dynamic interplay, bringing together diamonds, orange sapphires and rubies.
Rather than relying on overt statements, the RM 07-01 Coloured Ceramics collection achieves its impact through balance – between colour and restraint, innovation and tradition. It is a measured yet confident expression of modern watchmaking guided by precision at every turn.
