Football, along with other sports, has long been part of Richard Mille’s world, but with the RM 41-01 Tourbillon Soccer, the relationship shifts from association to interpretation – translating the structure and rhythm of a match into a highly engineered mechanical form.
Previous models, including those linked to manager and former player Roberto Mancini, introduced the idea of tracking match time on the wrist. Here, that concept is taken further, following the full arc of a game – from the opening whistle through to extra time – while accounting for its defining moments.

At its core is a new tourbillon flyback chronograph calibre, developed over five years in collaboration with Audemars Piguet’s Le Locle manufacture. Within this framework sit two complications conceived specifically for football. The match-phase indicator, positioned at 9 o’clock, tracks the progression of play – first half, second half and even time added on – advancing with each reset of the chronograph. Alongside it, a mechanical goal counter records the score for both teams, moving incrementally via pushers before returning to zero after nine goals. It is a rare complication that feels both highly specialised and intuitive to use.

Technically, the movement reflects Richard Mille’s established approach. Crafted from grade 5 titanium, it is extensively skeletonised, creating space for 650 components while maintaining clarity and structural integrity. The flyback chronograph is governed by a dual column-wheel system, ensuring precise operation without unnecessary complexity.
The case continues this focus on material and function. Comprising 105 components, it is offered in two versions, including one in Red Carmin Basalt TPT, a composite derived from volcanic rock. Its layered construction produces a subtle, wood-grain effect, while offering resistance to wear, temperature variation and UV exposure.

Usability is considered throughout. The pushers – combining titanium, TPT inserts and gold – are calibrated to deliver consistent tactile feedback across all functions, a detail that becomes only more compelling with use.
Though limited to 30 pieces, the RM 41-01 Tourbillon Soccer avoids novelty. Instead, it reflects a broader direction for the brand – where complications are shaped by context, and mechanics are used to interpret – rather than simply measure – time.
