Style Edit: Swatch’s new No Rules collection embodies a fun, rebellious energy with bold designs, provocative slogans and an extreme sports vibe that defy Swiss watchmaking norms

Wear your defiant heart on your wrist with this new collection of bright, fun watches bearing punk-inspired graffiti like ‘Time is Not Money’ and ‘Interdiction Not Allowed’

The former is splashed in irregular green, black and white letters, cut-and-paste fashion, across the oversized 47mm dial of Lash Out, the largest of the quintet. It reflects an attitude that can be read as mad at the world or tongue-in-cheek – over 14 days a different word or expletive pops up on a dial window to complete the bold declaration.

Befitting the brand’s early affinity with BMX and skateboarding, this is a racy model with an extreme sports vibe. The black bezel is notched with white hour markers, and the strap is emblazoned with a chequered flag pattern, and a green and white track etched with hot pink.

The Blank Check watch, which proclaims “Time is Not Money” in graffiti art, is deliciously ironic since it is embedded with Swatchpay tap-and-go technology. The contactless symbol dazzles in pink on the loop of a black strap laced with plaid and torn paper imagery. A yellow lightning-bolt-shaped hour hand and a dollar sign flash across the dial.
The same colour accents disrupt the Distort Mode model, with hot pink criss-crossing a yellow and black dotted strap. Its slogan is a call to arms for freedom of thought and action – “Interdiction Not Allowed”.
