Vivienne Tam, Kevin Poon, Elva Ni, Grace Chan and other Hong Kong stars gathered at Grand Majestic Sichuan to celebrate 20 years of Style

Style by SCMP celebrated its 20th anniversary with a star-studded party at Grand Majestic Sichuan on Wednesday, attended by the likes of Hong Kong luminaries like designer Vivienne Tam and entrepreneur Kevin Poon, celebrities Elva Ni and Grace Chan, and star athletes Ryan Choi and Cecilia Yeung. Over two decades of editorial excellence were on full display in a special exhibition showcasing the cultural milestones that have come to shape luxury fashion – and the pages of our magazine – over the years.

From the undeniable influence of social media and technology to the unstoppable force that is the Korean wave, it’s impossible to imagine fashion in 2026 without seeing a legion of smartphones on the runway, or K-pop idols as brand ambassadors sitting front row. Guests at the party received copies of our commemorative anniversary issue hitting news-stands tomorrow, February 13, which pays tribute to how these factors and more have changed fashion forever. Special features include our first-ever shoot generated with the help of artificial intelligence, and a flashback of the most iconic luxury collections from the past two decades, as illustrated by Berlin-based artist Josephine Rais.

Supported by our hospitality and beverage partners Black Sheep Restaurants and Saicho, a British, premium non-alcoholic sparkling tea brand, guests at the anniversary party were treated to free-flow bites like Grand Majestic Sichuan’s signature dan dan noodles and chilli pork dumplings, along with champagne and sparkling teas. Meanwhile over in the anniversary exhibition, guests were treated to an entirely different feast for the senses. Drawings of iconic handbags by Milan-based illustrator Susanna Gentili were printed onto cookies courtesy of Hong Kong bakery Oookie Cookie, while special set-ups paid tribute to the most iconic music and films of the past 20 years. Last but certainly not least, guests queued up to get a peek into their own future with the help of tarot card reader Emily Richmond.

In partnership with carmaker BMW, which also provided luxury cars to ferry guests to the venue, the event brought Hong Kong’s best and brightest cultural entrepreneurs together for an evening of connection, celebration and – of course – fashion. Many guests shared their favourite fit checks and memories from the past two decades with us, giving shoutouts to local designers like Angus Tsui and Toki Wong of Kowloon City Boy, as well as milestone moments in Hong Kong like Chanel’s cruise 2024-2025 replica show at the Hong Kong Design Institute.
