Evoking Hollywood’s golden age (and the Oscar statue), Chanel’s Silhouette Clock Statuette features founder Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel looking up into a starry sky

This season’s jewellery brings a mix of creativity and storytelling, from the Oscar statuette look inspired by Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel to the bee- and honeycomb-inspired Bee de Chaumet collection. Meanwhile, Messika and Boucheron show their technical chops with a fresh, modern take on some of their most classic designs. Nadine Ghosn, on the other hand, has very much gone in the opposite direction: turning everyday essentials into jewellery, even fashioning items of dental hygiene into desirable pieces.

This sculpture/clock from Chanel’s Reach for the Stars high jewellery collection re-creates the likeness of Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel herself. Evoking the golden age of Hollywood glamour, the collection pays homage to Gabrielle’s time in Los Angeles in the early 30s, when she designed costumes for films such as Tonight or Never (1931), starring Gloria Swanson. Made of yellow gold, white gold, polished diamonds, black jade and blue lacquer, the Silhouette Clock Statuette shows the designer looking up at the starry sky. It also recalls the iconic Oscar statuette.

Famously inspired by the bee and the honeycomb, Bee de Chaumet, the maison’s fine jewellery line, is expanding its repertoire with a series of new pieces that pay homage to the busy and sociable insect. It appears in creations such as a pom-pom pendant embellished with diamonds, while the honeycomb pattern becomes bolder and more supple, adding a new dimension to bracelets and a stunning bib necklace.

Messika

The jeweller is adding new items to its bestselling Move collection, known for its moving diamonds. The gold in the recently launched Move Ciselé range has a matte surface achieved through a special technique that gives the precious metal a soft, velvet-like finish. Messika enlisted art director and photographer Ezra Petronio to shoot the range.
