As a child, Mewar attended Indian boarding school Mayo College while his higher studies took him to the Blue Mountains International Hotel Management School in Australia where he gained his Bachelor of Commerce degree. Next, he took a management course at the Nanyang Technological University in Singapore and visited the Victoria and Albert Museum in London to participate in a workshop focusing on visitor care and security.
From this major conference, he was able to see the concerns of visitors to Udaipur’s storied City Palace in a whole new way. Afterwards, he applied the same approach at HRH Group of Hotels, founded by his late grandfather Maharana Bhagwat Singh Mewar in 1963.

Cricket is a big deal in this part of the world, and Mewar didn’t disappoint his roots, receiving the College Colours for the sport in university and now serving as the president of Udaipur District Cricket Association.
Even though he wanted to make a career of the sport, he gave it up for his other responsibilities. Nevertheless, he continues to promote cricket across Rajasthan and encourage young athletes to take it up.

In addition to playing music, Mewar also loves to paint and build model aircraft. He celebrates creativity by inviting promising new talents to showcase artworks at the group’s hotel properties. As evidenced from his Instagram page, it’s clear that he also loves to travel – and he’s a science geek, too.

Once finished with his studies, Mewar decided to return to Udaipur to take his family hospitality and heritage hotels business forward. One of his first projects was the restoration of the Jagmandir island palace, a then-derelict fort now reborn as one the world’s most exclusive wedding destinations.
As soon as this project was complete, he then concentrated on reviving the old Palki Khana restaurant as a European-style cafe overlooking the stunning Manek Chowk grounds of the City Palace.
