Born out of a passion for expressing functionality through elegance, refinement and impeccable quality, Loro Piana’s designs have long been celebrated for their timelessness. The Loro Piana aesthetics hail from a heritage that draws upon the house’s affinity to sports and the lifestyle surrounding activities such as sailing, skiing and horse riding. This, combined with savoir faire that uses the finest fabrics to suit the demands of these lifestyles, culminate in the Loro Piana Icons line.
These evergreen designs are refined season after season, with iterations of classic jackets and footwear expressed in new fabrics and with new details.
Born out of the demands of sailing, which requires lightweight outerwear that can weather the elements, the Loro Piana Bomber was first created in 2003 using a new high-performance microfibre fabric. This adopted the qualities of a Japanese material more commonly used for specialised sail and spinnaker making. This original Windmate fabric combines sailcloth’s waterproof qualities with cashmere’s natural fibres.
The revolutionary material redefines the traditional restrictions of a utilitarian garment and provides protective capabilities against the elements, minus the shiny and stiff touch of conventional performance materials. The Loro Piana Bomber is at once lightweight yet retains heat thanks to its natural cashmere blend – the two-way zip closure and elastic cuffs further enhance wind resistance.
Created for frequent travellers and conceived on a flight from Milan to New York, the Loro Piana Voyager over-jacket adapts to the different demands of any single journey. The jacket has seen numerous iterations since its inception in 2006.
A half belt with tabs and buttons on the back anchors the straight-cut silhouette. These design details not only enrich visual appeal but also allow the jacket to be fitted according to what’s worn underneath. Numerous pockets enhance the piece’s convenience while the collared look adapts to the various sartorial demands of travel, from professional dress codes to more relaxed aesthetics.
One of the most recognisable Icons from Loro Piana is a pair of loafers that draws inspiration from the classic, non-slip deck shoe. The White Sole shoe is born out of the house’s affinity for the sailing lifestyle. The sole is a blend of rubber and technical elements to make it slip-resistant and also so it will not scuff wooden decks.
