Technological expertise and an insistence on the finest raw materials have allowed the house’s artisans to work their magic

What if leather could have the exquisite softness, tactile lightness and delicate drape of cashmere? The new collection from Tod’s has precisely those qualities, and a name that pays homage to cashmere’s refinement and distinctive texture: Pashmy.

The development of the Pashmy range of footwear and outerwear stems from the craftsmanship, and the fastidiously chosen materials, that have characterised Tod’s since the house was founded over a century ago in Casette d’Ete – a charming town in the province of Fermo, in the picturesque Marche region of central Italy. As with all pieces that bear the Tod’s marque, the items in the Pashmy range are made entirely in Italy and embody the artistic flair that is a hallmark of the house’s approach to leatherwork.

They also represent the deep engagement that artisans at Tod’s have with the materials they work with. Each piece of leather goes through a rigorous quality control process with the craftsmen signing every one.

The technological innovation that has become associated with Tod’s is also evident. The creation of the Pashmy collection stems from what the house calls “Artisanal Intelligence” – the convergence of superior raw materials and extremely high standards of craftsmanship. A proprietary double-dyeing method ensures a depth of colour and vibrancy that approaches the finish of fine textiles, while a specialised tanning treatment gives the pieces in the Pashmy collection lasting water-repellent properties, doing away with the need for further protective applications.

The result is a collection characterised by supreme comfort, a confident sophistication and a standard of quality that few can match. It also aligns with the signature look of understated Italian elegance for which Tod’s is famous, while building on the expansion of the company’s product range that began in 2013, when Tod’s introduced its first full ready-to-wear women’s collection. A men’s collection followed a year later and since then the house has come to embody the very best of fashionable Italian artistry.
