Who is Meghan Markle’s friend and make-up artist, Daniel Martin, who gets into spats with the Duchess of Sussex’s online critics? He’s worked with brands like Dior and clients including Michelle Yeoh

Martin, who is of French-Vietnamese descent, got into make-up at a young age – now, some of his clients include Nicola Coughlan, Jessica Biel, Priyanka Chopra and Elisabeth Moss
Since the release of her Netflix series, With Love, Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex has been the victim of memes and online trolls criticising her homemaking show for being “out of touch”. The Guardian described the show as “over styled joylessness” while Rolling Stone labelled it “exhausting”.

In spite of its criticisms, fans of Meghan were thrilled to learn that the show has been renewed for a second season, and while it seems the duchess has risen above the hate, her friend Martin has not.
Throughout the eight-episode show, Meghan celebrated the relaunch of her lifestyle brand, As Ever, which sells raspberry preserves, flower sprinkles, tea and more. The brand was previously named American Riviera Orchard.
Martin, who makes an appearance as a guest during the show’s first episode, responded scathingly in defence of his friend: “That troll’s livelihood has been based on hate and she won’t stop because she needs the money. She’s worn out because karma’s a b**** and our light is drowning out her dark a** soul.”
On another occasion, an Instagram user and fashion student commented on an article about the show, saying, “It’s got to the point where you just have to laugh now.”

In response, Martin attacked the student’s skills. “Like your ‘designs’??” he wrote back, adding, “Don’t come for my friend without receipts …”
