Who is Christy Walton, the billionaire Walmart heiress who just took out a ‘non-partisan’ ad in The New York Times? She fundraised for Kamala Harris and her sister-in-law is the world’s richest woman

Walmart heiress Christy Walton has entered the political chat: the septuagenarian took out a full-page ad in the NYT asking people to ‘show up, attend your town halls, be civil’ – so who is she?
Walmart heiress Christy Walton has “quietly entered the political discourse” by placing a full-page advert in The New York Times over the weekend, as reported by Fortune.
The paid political advertisement features a picture of the Statue of Liberty, with the words “USA, USA, USA” emblazoned at the top. The page includes a list of statements, including “we are a people of principle of honour” and “we defend against aggression by dictators”.
The bottom of the advert reads: “The honour, dignity and integrity of our country is not for sale. Show up, attend your town halls, be civil.” It notes that the ad was “paid for by Christy Walton” and that the “views represented here are solely those of Christy Walton”.
Here’s what we know about Christy Walton.
Christy Walton married into the Walmart dynasty

Christy Walton was married to John T. Walton, the son of Walmart founder Sam Walton. After dying in a plane crash in Wyoming in 2005, Christy inherited a stake in the retailer, per Forbes. She got about one sixth of her late husband’s estate, while their son, Lukas Walton, received one third.
