There’s a lot going on with Wendy Williams. This week, the talk show host shocked fans when she reached out to paparazzi outside her assisted-living facility, the Coterie, asking for help, per TMZ. She has been staying at the New York residence since her 2023 dementia diagnosis. When police arrived for a welfare check she was taken to hospital, according to The Hollywood Reporter. She then underwent a psychological evaluation that determined she was “alert and oriented” and received a full score on a capacity assessment test.

Not long afterwards, the 60-year-old was spotted in NoHo, Manhattan, dining at Italian restaurant Tucci with niece Alex Finnie. However, the outing wasn’t authorised by the facility, which told police that Finnie “evaded staff” and illegally removed Williams from the premises.

Meanwhile, Williams is seeking to end her guardianship: her carer Sabrina Morrissey is being investigated for elder abuse, according to The Sun. Speaking on The Breakfast Club, Williams denied being “incapacitated”, as Morrissey has described her in court documents. Last December, ex-husband Kevin Hunter added to the confusion, claiming Morrissey was never appointed his ex-wife’s legal guardian. That came after Morrissey seemingly claimed Hunter had been paid too much in alimony after Williams divorced him. Morrissey denied that allegation.

In the early 90s, before meeting Wendy Williams, Kevin Hunter ran a beauty salon, per People. After they married, he took on the role of her manager and ventured into production. Hunter was an executive producer on The Wendy Williams Show when it launched in 2008. The two also collaborated as executive producers on the game show Love Triangle.

Kevin Hunter met the media personality at an ice rink in 1994, a year before her divorce from first husband Bert Girigorie was finalised, per People. Three years later, they tied the knot. They welcomed son Kevin Hunter Jr in 2000, after Williams sadly suffered a series of miscarriages.
