Five-time Grammy Award nominee Kelsea Ballerini came to ex-husband Morgan Evans’ defence while on tour.

Ballerini was performing at Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Florida, in February, reported the Independent, when fans started screaming, “F*** you, Morgan!” during her hit song “Penthouse”.

The “Cowboys Cry Too” singer, 31, who split from Evans in 2022, stopped mid-performance to tell the crowd: “Guys, you’ve got to stop saying that. Seriously.”

Ballerini – now dating Netflix’s Outer Banks star Chase Stokes – continued, “We’re three years past it. Everything’s fine now. I sing this song for you now. It’s not about me any more, please.

“All right, for everyone who’s moving forward with their life, will you sing this with me?” Ballerini asked before resuming.

Evans is an Australian country music star. Born in Newcastle, New South Wales, Evans was only 13 when he played his first gig, per Trove.

In 2017, he won a chance to record his debut single “Big Skies” when he won The Telstra Road to Tamworth, a country-music development programme. Evans went on to tour with the likes of Brooks & Dunn, Gary Allan, Shannon Noll and Adam Harvey and he was chosen by Taylor Swift to open her first Australian tour, in 2009.
