The pair had a legendary meet-cute in 2005 and have been together ever since; Raúl often accompanies Domingo on red carpets and produced his Oscar-nominated film, Sing Sing
During an appearance on The Graham Norton Show in February last year, the actor opened up about his and Raúl’s meeting in 2005 during a visit to a Walgreens pharmacy.
“I’m walking in and I see someone walking out, has beautiful hair down to here, lip piercing. Beautiful, beautiful,” Domingo told the host. “I see this guy and we look at each other, and I’m like, ‘Oh, my God.’ I’m on the phone and I come outside and we look at each other. He’s talking to this young woman and she seems to be angry about something.”
“And I wave, but he just keeps going. I’m just dumbfounded,” the Drive-Away Dolls actor continued. Domingo told himself he’d return to Walgreens the following Sunday in the hope of finding the mystery man again, but luckily he didn’t have to wait too long.
Three days after the initial encounter, Domingo took to Craigslist to place a “missed connections” ad – only to find the beautiful Walgreens stranger had already placed an ad for Domingo.
He told Norton, “I go to page two of them as I’m reading and I see, ‘Saw you outside of Walgreens. Berkeley.’ He placed an ad for me two hours before.”
Two days later, Domingo and Raúl had their first date and they have been together ever since.
