Michael Cera has made a name for himself playing quirky comedic characters, such as the unlikely romantic male leads in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World and Juno – and who can forget Allan in Barbie? Last year, he even starred in an ad campaign for skincare brand CeraVe, playing on the similarity between their names.
The notoriously private actor, 36, had his breakout role in television as George Michael Bluth in acclaimed early 2000s comedy series Arrested Development. And it may have been indirectly thanks to the show that he met his wife, Nadine. But what else do we know about her?
They kept their relationship secret for years

Cera is guarded around matters related to his private life, to the extent of even keeping his relationship – and marriage – to Nadine secret for years. According to a 2018 People article, the couple, adorned with rings, were spotted together in New York, sparking curiosity about the nature of their relationship.
When asked whether the star was married, Cera’s representatives declined to comment. At the time, Us Weekly reported that his companion’s name was Nadine and that she was his long-time girlfriend. The publication also claimed that the This Is the End star had been wearing a ring since at least 2017.
The pair met in France

As reported by Elle, it seems it wasn’t until a 2022 interview on the Justin Long podcast Life is Short that the Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist actor discussed and confirmed his relationship in public. While in Paris promoting Arrested Development, probably in 2013, Cera said that he and a friend “went down the street one night to this little bar in Paris and she was there with all her flatmates, and we were smiling at each other in this very unabashed way”.
He added: “There was no shyness, we just kept seeing each other and smiling. It was so comfortable. It was a really unfamiliar way to experience a stranger, and I felt like I saw the whole thing.”
Nadine, from Germany, later met Cera for coffee. After he went to Cannes, he wanted to extend the trip to hang out with her, but discovered she was unofficially dating her roommate. Yet a few months later she contacted Cera and they’ve been together since.
He wrote a song about her


The Youth in Revolt star not only acts, he’s also racked up credits as a producer and a director – and he’s even been known to release music. In 2014, Cera published the song “ohNadine (You Were in My Dream)”. The lyrics run, “Oh Nadine / Woke up from a dream last night / Where all the skies were green / You were the sun …”
The couple had a son in 2021

Rarely seen in public together except on a few occasions, such as at the 2018 Tony Awards ceremony, the couple were even able to keep the birth of their son a secret from the world – for a few months at least.
In a March 2022 ET interview, the actor’s Life & Beth co-star, Amy Schumer, revealed that Cera had a child. “Michael has a baby, too. Is that public knowledge?” the comedian asked. “I just outed him, I just outed his baby.”
Per People, soon after the accidental outing, the actor confirmed to Extra that his child was a boy of six months.
