The centimillionaire founder of dating app Bumble, Whitney Wolfe Herd, who stepped down as chief executive of the company a little more than a year ago, is set to return to the position after Lidiane Jones resigned, citing personal reasons. So a few months before her formal, March reappointment, she headed to Japan with friends for a break.

Wolfe Herd, 35, who made Forbes’ list of America’s Richest Self-Made Women in 2024, and who in 2021 became the youngest female CEO to go public with an American company, has a successful love life of her own. Since 2017, she has been married to businessman Michael Herd.

According to Business Insider, Herd is heir to the Herd Producing Company, an oil and gas firm founded by his late grandfather, Bob L. Herd. He is the president of the company, which is based in the town of Tyler in Texas. Herd also owns the high-end, Tyler-based farm-to-table establishment, The Grove Kitchen & Gardens.

Herd and Wolfe Herd met in 2013 through a mutual friend while holidaying in Aspen, Colorado, with their respective families, per Vogue. She taught him how to ski and sparks flew. Though this meet-cute happened offline, she had previously stumbled across him on a dating app. “He has the kind of face you remember,” Wolfe Herd told The Daily Telegraph. After getting to know each other over the phone for some time, they became an item on Valentine’s Day the next year.
