The first K-pop solo artist to reach a billion streams on Spotify – and a brand ambassador for Louis Vuitton and Bulgari – Lisa just made her acting debut in season 3 of HBO’s The White Lotus

Lisa from Blackpink has come a long way since her trainee days at YG Entertainment. The “Lalisa” singer was only 13 when she left her home in Thailand for South Korea’s highly competitive K-pop industry.

Now 27, she is a member of one of the world’s most recognised K-pop groups, has her own entertainment company, and won a Guinness World Record by becoming the first K-pop solo artist to reach one billion streams on Spotify. Musical achievements aside, Lisa is one of the world’s most coveted brand ambassadors, with maisons like Louis Vuitton and Bulgari tapping the young Thai K-pop artist.

Lisa, whose full name is Lalisa Manobal, made her acting debut this week in the third season of HBO’s The White Lotus, which premiered on February 16.

As Lisa gears up for a busy and successful year, here’s a look at her parents, who have supported the K-pop star throughout her career.

She was raised by her mum and stepdad

Lisa was born as Pranpriya Manobal in March 1997, in Thailand. An only child, she was raised by her Thai mother, Chitthip Brüschweiler, and her Swiss stepfather, chef Marco Brüschweiler.

At age 13, the future star changed her name to Lalisa for good luck, after consulting a fortune-teller.
