At 86, Hollywood star Jon Voight has a new job. Days ahead of becoming the 47th president of the United States, Donald Trump announced on his social media platform Truth Social that actors Mel Gibson, Jon Voight and Sylvester Stallone – all proud Trump supporters – had been appointed “Special Ambassadors to a great but very troubled place, Hollywood, California”. As “special envoys”, the three are expected to be the president’s “eyes and ears” in Tinseltown and help bring back the booming success of its bygone eras.

“I’m old enough to have touched some years of the Golden Age of Hollywood, and I’ve seen its slow deterioration since,” Voight told Associated Press in response to his new position. “We are fortunate to have an incoming president, who wants to restore Hollywood to its former glory, and with his help, I feel we can get done.”

Voight’s first wife was actress Lauri Peters, to whom he was married from 1962 to 1967. They met while performing in The Sound of Music on Broadway, per Hollywood Life, where she originated the role of the eldest Von Trapp child, Liesl.
In 1971, he married another actress, Marcheline Bertrand, with whom he had two children: James Haven and Angelina Jolie. Haven was born in 1973, and Jolie followed in 1975. The couple split in 1976, and their divorce was finalised four years later. In an op-ed for The New York Times, Maria star Jolie claimed her parents separated because of her father’s cheating. Bertrand died in 2007 after a long battle with ovarian and breast cancer.
