Although Moore has raised 3 talented and supportive daughters who have stayed by her side through the years, her own upbringing was less fortunate – so what do we know about her half-brother?

Demi Moore has long been considered a Hollywood icon. Now the 62-year-old mother-of-three can add the title of Golden Globe winner to her growing list of achievements. On January 5, Moore won the gong for best female actor in a film – musical or comedy for her performance in The Substance.

“I really wasn’t expecting that. I’m just in shock right now,” Moore said during her acceptance speech. “I’ve been doing this a long time, like over 45 years, and this is the first time I’ve ever won anything as an actor and I’m just so humbled and so grateful.”

Although Moore has raised three talented and supportive daughters who have stayed by her side through the years, her own upbringing was less fortunate – which makes her success all the more inspiring. She was born to a teenage mother, Virginia King, who let Moore believe that her husband, Danny Guynes, was Moore’s dad. It wasn’t until much later that she learned her biological father was a man named Charles Harmon.

“I don’t think my mother came into this world with the intention to be less than nurturing, to be neglectful, to not really be able to show up as a parent for me. I think she came in with the innocence of a soul that wanted to find happiness, feel love and belong,” she explained during an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show.

Moore has previously said that she was not close with her biological father. “My dad is Dan Guynes. He raised me,” she told Vanity Fair in 1991. “There is a man [Harmon] who would be considered my biological father who I don’t really have a relationship with.”

It’s unclear whether Moore stayed in touch at all with Harmon – or his children, who are technically her half siblings. But here’s what we do know about one of them, James Craig Harmon.
