Not long before the big announcement, Wright celebrated her 29th birthday and Swims, 32, real name Jaten Collin Dimsdale, marked the occasion with a heartfelt tribute on Instagram that read partly, “I’m looking forward to loving you forever and ever and I’m so thankful and lucky to call you mine.” Per a post on the birthday girl’s profile, the couple seem to have spent the day in Maui.

Wright is a vocalist, like her boyfriend. She grew up in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, with a mother who led worship at church and a sister who played the guitar, per her official website. Soon, she went from practising with her mother to participating in plays at school and church. She also competed in talent shows and uploaded song covers on YouTube. Unfortunately, owing to financial difficulties at home, Wright had to join the workforce after graduating from high school, but with her grandmother’s encouragement she moved to Boston to pursue music full time. There, she was discovered by DJ KnockOut.
Wright released her debut EP Drive in 2019 and her latest EP, Making Room, came out last year. She has toured with Swims and joined Pink Sweat$ on his Pink Beginnings Tour.
