Courtney Roker Laga has an extensive culinary background, working at Michelin-starred restaurants and Google HQ – she and her dad will host a masterclass in New York City to promote their cookbook

This August, Al Roker turned 70. In a segment about his birthday get-together with Oprah Winfrey, his Today Show colleagues commented that the NBC weatherman and 3rd Hour of Today co-host really has “done it all”.

Roker has enjoyed an illustrious career of over four decades, having won Emmy awards, interviewed countless celebrities, presented on radio and even worked as a television producer. He is also the CEO of Al Roker Entertainment and a successful author with some 13 books to his name.

But beyond his impressive achievements and professional accolades, what surely brings the morning show anchor immeasurable pride and joy is his family. Roker has been married to fellow news correspondent and actress Deborah Roberts since 1995 and the couple have two children together. Additionally, Roker was previously married to Alice Bell with whom he shares one daughter, Courtney Roker Laga. Playing very much an active and supportive role in her father’s life, Courtney is accomplished in her own right.

Born in May 1987, Courtney is the eldest of Roker’s three kids and a real foodie. As her website proudly proclaims, she has a “passion for cooking [and] a diverse culinary background”.

While the 37-year-old currently works as a private chef, per Today, her culinary experience also includes working in two Michelin-starred restaurants and at New York City’s Google Headquarters. She also previously held the position of culinary content manager and lead recipe developer at appliance manufacturer Chefman.

As reported by People, Courtney married her husband, Wesley Laga, in a beautiful ceremony in June 2021. Just over two years later, in July 2023, Courtney gave birth to her daughter Sky, blessing the famed weatherman with his first grandchild.
