Meet model and actress Charlotte McKinney, who went from ‘Burger Babe’ to Baywatch star: the once bullied 31-year-old rose to fame during a Super Bowl halftime ad and now does stand-up comedy
Charlotte McKinney may have had a tough time at school, but her Instagram content and an advert for a burger company propelled her to stardom – now she acts alongside The Rock and Zac Efron
Charlotte McKinney knows how to turn lemons into lemonade. Despite being bullied at school and suffering from a chronic health condition, the model turned actress and stand-up comedian eschewed university to find her own way, leveraging her Instagram account into a full blown Hollywood career. So how did she do it?
Here’s what you need to know.
She was bullied at school
Born in Florida in 1993 to Terry and Susan McKinney, the 31-year-old revealed in a TikTok video that she never imagined herself as a model beyond helping her dad with photos for his used car business.
Growing up, she says she faced bullying for her dyslexia and body-shaming because she developed earlier than her peers.
“I was just growing these large breasts at such a young age, not knowing what to do with them or how to wear them. So it was definitely awkward,” she told Ocean Drive magazine.
Her negative experience of school led her to leave as soon as she turned 17. She later gained attention on Instagram and, by 2015, had secured a major deal with American fast food giant Carl’s Jr. for a Super Bowl advertisement, per Us Weekly.
In the 52-second advert, she introduces Carl’s Jr.’s All-Natural patty by walking naked through a bustling farmer’s market – and caught the eye of millions during the biggest sporting event of the year.
