Prince Harry has been travelling without Meghan Markle and their two children, Archie and Lilibet, recently.

After making stops in London and New York, where he appeared on Jimmy Fallon’s The Tonight Show, the Duke of Sussex arrived in the southern African country of Lesotho on October 1 for what became his eighth solo appearance in as many days, according to The Telegraph.

The 40-year-old appeared on Princess Senate Seeiso of Lesotho’s Instagram page shortly after his arrival, as noted by the New York Post. “Had the pleasure of hosting the Duke of Sussex today for lunch,” the 23-year-old princess wrote beneath a shot of herself with the Brit, which has since been saved as an Instagram Story highlight dedicated to Harry, under the title “DOS”, referring to the Duke of Sussex.
She also shared a video of Harry speaking about his charity work while sat around a campfire. “Inspiring and passionate conversations around the bonfire with my uncle Prince Seeiso and The Duke aka Mohale,” she shared. According to The Standard, Mohale is the Sesotho word for “warrior”.

Harry’s decision to tour sans Markle and the children has been interpreted as a tactical move by UK media such as The Telegraph, which suggests it could be part of an effort to rehabilitate the Prince’s image and remind the public of the royal “they loved”. Or perhaps the Duchess of Sussex is just keeping busy taking care of the children until they’re all reunited.

Here’s what we know about the princess he’s been hanging out with recently:
Princess Senate Seeiso’s royal roots

Princess Senate is one of three children born to King Letsie III and Queen Masenate Mohato Seeiso (née Anna Karabo Motsoeneng), according to monarchy section of the official Lesotho website. She has a sister, Princess Maseeiso Seeiso, and a brother, Prince Lerotholi Seeiso, who is the heir apparent.

Per the source, Princess Senate’s father has been on the throne for over three decades.

“In Lesotho, our King is highly revered and respected by the people,” notes the Lesotho website. “The King is seen as a unifying figure who embodies the history, traditions, and values of the nation. The monarchy serves as a source of pride and identity for the Basotho, fostering a sense of national unity and cohesion.”

Harry and Princess’ Senate’s uncle, Prince Seeiso, go way back. According to the New York Post, they co-founded a charity in 2006 called Sentebale (meaning “forget me not”) together. The charity – which honours Harry’s late mother Princess Diana – reportedly helps disadvantaged youth.
She graduated from university this year

Princess Senate announced her graduation from the University of Ottawa in Canada in June. “A postsecondary education is a privilege that not everyone has and I humbly recognise and am eternally grateful to have experienced and achieved what many others like me are unable to,” she wrote on Instagram alongside a pic of her in her graduation robe. “Which makes it all the more imperative to use this privilege to uplift others and contribute meaningfully to society and my country that is Lesotho.”
She’s into philanthropy

According to the Lesotho website, Princess Senate is an avid spokesperson for ending child marriage. “Take a child to school, stay in school and end child marriage,” the then-16-year-old princess said at a ceremony in 2018, where she was inaugurated as a National Champion to end child marriage in Lesotho, per a Facebook post shared by Unicef Lesotho.

“Early marriages rob children of their youthfulness and denies them an opportunity for a fruitful and a bright future characterised by solid education, good health and robust development,” she said. “Child marriage is a violation of children’s rights.”
