Raised in Scotland with her twin brother Xavier, Honor Swinton Byrne starred in ‘The Souvenir’ then decided to take a degree in psychology; now, she’s following in her Oscar-winning mum’s footsteps

Honor Swinton Byrne might not be a household name just yet, but viewers of her latest project – A Very Royal Scandal – will probably recognise the real-life royal her character is based on. Swinton Byrne plays England’s Princess Beatrice in Amazon Prime’s new dramatisation of Prince Andrew’s disastrous 2019 interview with Newsnight.

Look past the scandals, though, and the actress’ lineage should be obvious to viewers steeped in British film and television. She’s the daughter of famed British actress Tilda Swinton – star of Doctor Strange and The Curious case of Benjamin Button, among others – and her late ex-husband, Scottish playwright John Byrne.

But just who is the up-and-coming actress following in the footsteps of her Oscar-winning mother? Here’s everything you know about Honor Swinton Byrne.

She has a twin brother

Swinton Byrne was born in London on 6 October, 1997, and has a twin brother named Xavier. Xavier Swinton Byrne is also in the film industry, working behind the scenes on films such as Avengers: Infinity War, Doctor Strange and Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker, often as a part of the art department or additional crew, per IMDb.

The twins’ parents separated in 2005 after 14 years together, but continued to live together and co-parent their children. In 2008, Swinton began dating Sandro Kopp, who is 18 years her junior, and eventually moved him into the family home, according to Fox News.

Speaking about their unusual living arrangement at the time, the Narnia actress said “The father of my children and I are good friends and I’m now in a very happy other relationship. And we’re all really good friends. It’s a very happy situation.”
