  • The hit Netflix documentary series about the gruelling lives of the iconic Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders introduced the world to Reece Weaver, who quickly became a fan favourite
  • The butter-wouldn’t-melt Floridian’s fiancé moved to Texas to support her dream, but she was ‘heartbroken’ when her bestie on the show Charly Barby was cut from the squad

If the concept of America’s Sweetheart could ever be embodied by one woman, it would probably be Reece Weaver. The bright-eyed, hyper-religious 23-year-old cheerleader from Florida stole the show with her impressive dance moves on the Netflix documentary about the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders – and her wholesome romance with fiancé Will Allman won a few hearts too.

So what happened to Reece after the cameras stopped rolling? Here’s what she’s been up to since season one of America’s Sweethearts.

She married Will Allman

Will Allman was introduced as Reece’s fiancé on the show, and had moved to Dallas to be with her during training camp. The pair first crossed paths when Reece was cheerleading at a University of Alabama basketball game and helped a little boy get a photo with the team’s mascot, according to an interview she gave to The Unplanned Podcast. She said Will had noticed the sweet interaction, tracked her down and followed her on Instagram. She said she then “slid up on his DMs”. The pair got engaged in April 2023, and married in July this year.

Their wedding featured a DCC performance

As reported by People magazine, the couple’s wedding took place at Cottonwood Ranch in Florida, and Reece walked down the (alfresco) aisle in a strapless A-line gown to a song from her favourite Disney movie, Tangled. Reece and her Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders colleagues performed the squad’s signature, AC/DC’s “Thunderstruck”, later in the evening – in more practical attire of course.

She’s still close with Charly Barby

In the documentary, Reece quickly became friends with fellow rookie Charly Barby, but at the very last stage, Charly was cut from the team. Reece talked about how hard she took the news on The Unplanned Podcast. “When I told Will Charly got cut, he was like, ‘Oh Reece, that was your best friend, but that’s a team of 36 …’ but I was like, ‘Yes, but I’m heartbroken right now.’”
