McIlroy has filed for divorce from his wife, as confirmed by the golfing pro’s manager last week – the unexpected news came on the eve of the PGA Championship

He is hiring Thomas Sasser, the same lawyer who represented Tiger Woods during his divorce from Swedish model Elin Nordegren, and Joe Jonas in his split from Sophie Turner

Rory McIlroy has filed for divorce from his wife, Erica Stoll, as confirmed by the golf pro’s manager on May 13. The unexpected news came on the eve of the PGA Championship.

According to US media, McIlroy is hiring Thomas Sasser, the same lawyer who represented Tiger Woods during his divorce from Swedish model Elin Nordegren over a decade ago, and more recently, Joe Jonas in his split from Sophie Turner.

Court documents obtained by the New York Post show that the Northern Irishman is reportedly asking for an enforcement of a prenuptial agreement that the couple signed back in March 2017. He has made about US$110 million in golf winnings and even more in endorsements during their marriage, adds the article.

Besides being a former WAG and support to her ex at his tournaments, New York-born Stoll used to work for the PGA of America as an office manager and manager of championship volunteer operations, according to People. “The way PGA employees present themselves is so admirable and professional. That’s the kind of job I want, and it’s doing something I love,” she told the Democrat and Chronicle back in 2008.
