Lupita Nyong’o’s cryptic break-up announcement: the Black Panther star just split from Selema Masekela, saying on Instagram the relationship ended ‘suddenly and devastatingly’ due to ‘deception’

Her lengthy and heartfelt caption hinted that the year-long relationship may have ended due to infidelity on Masekela’s side.
“At this moment, it is necessary for me to share a personal truth and publicly dissociate myself from someone I can no longer trust. I find myself in a season of heartbreak because of a love suddenly and devastatingly extinguished by deception. I am tempted to run into the shadows and hide, only to return to the light when I have regained my strength …” wrote Nyong’o.
Although it is unclear when the romance started, Nyong’o and TV host Masekela went Instagram official in December last year, and the two have had a fairly public relationship since.
The break-up announcement came a day after Nyong’o, 40, was seen arriving at a Janelle Monáe concert with Dawson’s Creek actor and recent divorcee, Joshua Jackson. Although, according to TMZ, a source revealed that it was a group outing and “there’s nothing romantic about the night out”.
