  • Serena Williams rocked a vintage lace dress with crystals at the Vanity Fair Oscars after-party in 2016 – and the wedding-dress trend continues to stay strong today
  • Jennifer Lawrence, Sofía Vergara and Sarah Jessica Parker all donned white gowns too, while Priyanka Chopra Jonas finished off her look with sparkling Chopard jewels at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival

Red carpet events are meant to be moments where celebrities can show off their most OTT ‘fits, so why not go all out and wear a wedding dress?

There’s so much variety in designer bridal wear from coveted brands, ranging from drama-filled gowns to modern minidresses. Some stars re-wore looks from their own weddings while others, like Beyoncé and Elle Fanning, simply opted for gowns from designers’ bridal lines.

Here are 16 celebs who wore wedding dresses on the red carpet … to stunning effect.

Although she skipped the red carpet at the 2016 Grammys, Beyoncé’s daring look made headlines when she appeared on stage to present Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars with the record of the year award for “Uptown Funk”.

She wore a wedding dress from Inbal Dror’s autumn 2016 collection that featured a detachable collared neckline with a plunging V-neck, sheer panels and a lace design. The superstar ended up liking the look so much that she commissioned the designer to create several custom looks for The Formation World Tour.

2. Jennifer Lawrence

In 2017, Jennifer Lawrence opted for an L. Wells gown from the NYC-based designer’s 2018 bridal collection that featured an illusion skirt with Swiss dots and sheer lace flutter sleeves. To make the look less bridal, Lawrence wore it with layered necklaces, simple sandals and bold lipstick.

In 2019, at the engagement party for her wedding to art gallerist Cooke Maroney, the actress wore another L. Wells bridal gown. Lawrence’s stylists’, Jill Lincoln and Jordan Johnson, posted an Instagram photo of the star in the gown, which featured sheer sleeves and a high leg slit.

According to W magazine, L. Wells’ designer Lauren Wells is Lawrence’s cousin.
