But it’s not just Casio that the former Barcelona FC defender roots for in the timepiece arena – he’s sported a Rolex Rainbow Cosmograph Daytona like Cristiano Ronaldo, a Hublot Big Bang and more

Shakira and Gerard Piqué’s relationship news seems never-ending. Recently, the Colombian pop star may have accidentally “helped” her ex-lover, the former Barcelona FC defender, land a new partnership with Casio, thanks to her latest song.

On January 11, the 45-year-old singer belted out her emotions on BZRP Music Sessions #53 on YouTube with Argentine DJ Bizarrap. The video quickly went viral. She sang (as translated from Spanish): “I’m worth two 22-year-olds, you swapped a Ferrari for a Twingo, you swapped a Rolex for a Casio”, with fans immediately speculating that it was about the former couple’s split and Piqué’s new 23-year-old love interest, Clara Chia Marti.

The song is now a global hit, garnering over 65 million views on YouTube in 24 hours (150 million at the time of writing), making it the most-watched Latin music debut in the platform’s history, per Yahoo! News. It also topped Spotify’s Top 50 Global Chart, reported Vanguard.

So how did Piqué respond? A few days after his ex’s song was released, the 35-year-old announced via a live-stream that he’d landed a partnership deal between Casio and The Kings League, a new football seven tournament he’s running, per Sportskeeda. He commented in the live-stream, “This watch will last a lifetime.”
