When it comes to a bride’s big day, getting the dress right is everything. For celebrities, this is often taken to a whole new level – and with bigger budgets, fans often expect their favourite stars to push the limits.
Some stars have worn eye-catching gowns with see-through details and bold colours on their wedding days, while others have gone for more unconventional looks. Here, we look at eight of the most daring wedding dresses, and what the brides have had to say about them:
1. Hailey Bieber
“I didn’t want somebody who was a wedding dress designer,” she told the publication. “I just feel like my style and my street style is such a part of who I am.” Bieber went on to say that she was “specific” on the sleeve design, which extended over her hands, and the gown’s corseted silhouette. “I feel good. I feel beautiful,” she said while wearing the dress.
Bieber in fact wore a total of three dresses on her big day, all of which were more daring than most.
2. Emily Ratajkowski
Emily Ratajkowski told Vanity Fair that she didn’t wear white on her wedding day because she’s “not a pure woman”. Instead the model opted for a mustard-coloured suit from Zara. “I’m a woman with a lot of character and experience and life,” she explained.
The 31-year-old said she had wanted to wear red, but later found a mustard-yellow suit and “just knew that it was the one”. “I also just love the idea of a suit, especially at City Hall, because it’s like you’re taking care of business,” she said.
