Bryce Maximus James, the youngest son of NBA star LeBron James, is ready to take his basketball career to greater heights.
Bryce drew the attention of NBA fans when he announced on his Instagram Story that he was offered a Division I scholarship to play basketball at Duquesne University.
His No 1 fan, no other than his dad, couldn’t contain his excitement and wrote on his Instagram Story, all in capital letters: “Ayyyeee!!! Let’s go Maximus @_justbryce.”

The 15 year old is a rising second-year student at Sierra Canyon School in Chatsworth, California. His older brother, Bronny, 17, a senior, is a top prospect for the class of 2023, and also plays at the same school, according to the New York Post. Apparently, it runs in the family – and it certainly helps if you’ve got genes from “King James”.

On money matters

Before becoming one of the greatest NBA players of all time, LeBron lived with his mum on the projects of Akron, Ohio and barely had any money. They had to move flats every few months, and got by with help from food stamps, according to CNBC.
In the first episode of Uninterrupted’s podcast, LeBron recalled that before entering the NBA draft, “rent was US$17 a month”.
Today, LeBron is the first active NBA billionaire. With the success he has achieved, it also means that his children are “beyond the top”, as he told his business partner and long-time friend, Maverick Carter. While his kids will never understand what he went through, he said he teaches them to be grounded as possible and “appreciate what they have”.

It’s not easy to stand out when your father is an NBA star and your older brother is a coveted recruit. However, Bryce literally stood out when he hit a growth spurt. According to reports, Bryce now measures at 198cm, making him 7.6cm taller than Bronny who stands at 190cm.

While Bryce is still in high school, he’s already starting to show potential. Recently, LeBron’s workout video, showing him playing with Bryce and Bronny at the Los Angeles Facility, went viral. The three showed off their dribbling, shooting and dunking skills.

Bryce and Bronny play for the California Basketball Club, which also features the sons of NBA stars Penny Hardaway and Scottie Pippen. The club recently competed overseas in Europe against teams from London, Paris and Rome, according to CBS Sports.

LeBron tweeted that he got emotional when he saw his kids play together on the court.
He’s the best shooter, according to his dad

In 2018, Slam Magazine tweeted a highlight video of Bryce who was 11 years old at that time, playing basketball. In the video, he is seen splashing threes with a seemingly good form for a kid his age.

LeBron then retweeted the video and lauded Bryce as “the best shooter in this household for sure!”
Off the court, he’s a normal teenager and has a good sense of humour

Like his father, Bryce has a commendable following on his social media accounts. He has one million and 1.2 million followers on Instagram and TikTok respectively.

Aside from showing off his dancing on TikTok, Bryce is also known for his sense of humour. A hilarious clip captured from his mum’s Instagram Story reposted by Bleacher Report shows him perfectly impersonating his father’s voice and gestures, making his brother drop to the floor in laughter.
